Ian Wright, MBE

English born former professional footballer, Ian Wright, is now television and radio personality.
Ian had a tough start in life. his father left at 18 months old and his mother and step father were not the best to him. However, with his mothers words ‘many are called, few are chosen’ ringing in his ears and the support of his school teacher, he dedicated himself to football, turning professional relative late on. Playing for Crystal Palace, Arsenal and West Ham during his club career, Ian was selected for England in 1991 and played on numerous occasions until the end of 1998. Ian excelled as a goal scorer both at club and international level. He became Director of Football Strategy of Isthmian League team, Ashford Town in 2007. He became a coach in 2013.
He has appeared on television and on radio and in 2000, was awarded the MBE for his services to football. To top it all both his sons, Bradley and Shaun, are themselves professional footballers. Ian Wright, RD salutes you!
